CGI Alien
First Contact 👽
I've always wanted to create an alien — but for the longest time, I didn’t feel like my skill level was high enough to make one look believable. This time, I gave myself a head start by generating the base mesh using AI. It helped in two major ways: first, it's faster — and second, it completely sidestepped the dreaded "empty canvas" syndrome by giving me a starting point to build from.
The alien was sculpted, retopologized, UV-unwrapped and enhanced with high-res details using the Multires Modifier in Blender. All of that was then baked down for efficiency. I rigged it using AutoRig Pro, animated it with Mixamo, and added hand-made tweaks for that extra bit of personality.
I’m genuinely proud of this project — it came out pretty close to how I imagined it from the start. Technical challenges pushed me to my limits, but after a lot of sweat (and a few tears), I overcame them one by one.
Created with Blender 4.3, textured in Substance Painter (in 8K), and rendered in Cycles.
